2022 Ram Truck Lineup Gains New Uconnect 5 Infotainment System And A Handful Of Other Updates

Ram has already introduced a handful of 2022 models, but the company has now revealed certain trucks will come equipped with an all-new Uconnect 5 infotainment system.

Standard on Big Horn and above trims of the 1500, 2500 and 3500, the system is Android-based and is four times faster than the previous infotainment system while also boasting three times more memory.

Those aren’t the only improvements as the infotainment system features a customizable home screen, sharper graphics as well as colors, themes and fonts to match the trim level of the truck.

The system also features natural language voice recognition technology as well as support for up to five different user profiles. Owners will also find wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and CarPlay can now occupy the entire 12-inch display.

Other highlights include Maps Over The Air technology, which enables the infotainment system to automatically download and install map updates in the background. The system also supports Last Mile Navigation by providing walking directions on the Uconnect smartphone app after you park.

Putting the infotainment system aside, the 2022 Ram 1500 gains several new variants including the previously announced Limited 10th Anniversary Edition, BackCountry, Laramie G/T and Rebel G/T. They’re being joined by a new 1500 Longhorn SouthFork, which replaces the Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition and features a multi-function tailgate, a deployable bed step, a spray-in bedliner, the Bed Utility Group and Falken Wildpeak All-Terrain tires. The model also has an exclusive Mountain Brown interior with bucket seats, suede / leather door panels, and metal pedals.

The 1500 also gains a lightly revised color palette and an upgraded Trailer Tow Group, which now includes four LED lights to help when hitching trailers at night. Lastly, the truck comes standard with a Ram Clean Air System that filters out 95% of air particulates to reduce pollen, allergens and bacteria in the cabin.

Updates to the Heavy Duty lineup are less extensive, but the trucks gain a Harvest Sunrise paint job, the aforementioned trailer hitch lights and an upgraded Power Wagon. The latter offers a new Level 3 Equipment Package, which includes a black mesh grille with a gunmetal Ram badge as well as premium headlights with gloss black surrounds. Inside, there’s a 12-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system, a 17-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and Medium Greystone Natura Plus or Bristol leather bucket seats with embossed Power Wagon logos.
