SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Korea Bizwire) Volvo Cars Korea introduced an infotainment system that features best-optimized navigation and sound recognition function for the South Korean market.

Volvo Car Korea held an online media event titled New Volvo Experience on Tuesday. During this event, the company unveiled an integrated infotainment service in the new XC60, the first model to feature the service.

Volvo invested 30 billion won over the past two years to develop the SKT Infotainment Service in collaboration with SK Telecom Co., the country’s largest mobile carrier.

The newly-developed infotainment service is a next-generation connectivity service that is based on the Android Automotive OS for vehicles. It can activate a variety of functions by voice commands.

In particular, it is expected to provide the most optimal ‘Korean-type’ infotainment service through connection with the mobile navigation T-Map service, AI assistant NUGU and music platform FLO.

The new XC60 features a number of technology upgrades in addition to the SKT infotainment service. Volvo Korea expects to easily meet its sales target of 15,000 units this year, with plans to reach 25,000 units annually within five years.
