Which 2022 Kia Telluride is Right for Me?

2022 Kia Telluride

The Kia Telluride has been impressive right from the start, with the 3-row midsize crossover winning our Kelly Blue Book Best Buy Award for its segment. With a powerful V6, lots of technology, and a high level of standard safety and driver-assist features, the 2022 Kia Telluride even wins on value, starting under $33,000. This year, the hot-selling Telluride becomes even more compelling with a larger infotainment touchscreen and additional standard features.

Power for the 2022 Telluride comes from a 291-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 that mates to an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available on all trims. Ride quality is excellent for long journeys and offers different drive modes the driver can toggle through. All-wheel drive models add a Snow mode.

The Telluride can accommodate eight passengers, or seven if the buyer chooses captain’s chairs in the second row. Its fairly blocky design makes for a cabin that is nice and roomy, although the third row is a bit tight for anyone above 5-foot-7. Cargo space is also excellent, with 21 cubic feet behind the row expanding to 87 with the seats folded.

For 2022 the Kia Telluride gets a few updates, including more driver assistance features as standard, a larger standard 10.25-inch infotainment display with more functions, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a revised grille with Kia’s new logo.

Driver Talk is standard this year, too. It’s a useful feature that feeds the driver’s voice into the rear speakers, so parents don’t have to shout at their kids in the way back. Parents can also opt for Quiet Mode (also newly standard), which shuts off the rear speakers, yet still allows those in front to listen to their preferred audio source at a low level.

Four Trim Levels

With just one engine and transmission choice and front-wheel drive (with all-wheel drive available on all models for an extra $1,900 to $2,000 depending on the trim), the Telluride continues to keep things basic with only four trim levels.

The base LX (starting at $32,790) is well-equipped, with rear air-conditioning, keyless entry with push-button start, sliding and folding second-row seats, and an infotainment system consisting of the 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, navigation, a 6-speaker audio system, and five USB ports.

Standard safety equipment is also impressive, with forward-collision warning with automatic braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. All Kias come with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. The mandatory destination fee is $1,225.

The base Telluride comes with plenty of features. But the range between the lowest and highest trims is only around $10,000, so it’s worth looking at a better-equipped model.
