The 2022 Kia Forte is a compact sedan that seats five. It offers tons of technology, practicality, and comfort for a starting price under $20,000 ($19,090 to be exact). The Forte competes with the likes of the Honda Civic, Toyota Camry, Nissan Sentra, and its corporate brother, the Hyundai Elantra. Kia offers an industry-leading 10-year/100,000-mile warranty on all its vehicles including the Kia Forte.
For 2022 the Kia Forte gets a refresh. It gets some new looks, has some newly available driver assistance tech features like navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, and safe exit warning, and it gets a new 10.25-inch infotainment system in the upper trims. Kia has also added a new, larger 4.2-inch TFT LCD cluster as standard on all trims of the Forte.
The powertrain and chassis on the 2022 Kia Forte remain largely unchanged from last year. You can opt for the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that puts out 147 horsepower or the GT powertrain which gives you 201-horsepower from a turbocharged 1.6-liter I4. The base engine comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) while the GT comes with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Four Trim Levels
The Forte comes in four trim levels, FE, LXS, GT-Line, and GT. The EX model has been discontinued for this model year, while Kia has added a new GT-Line Sport Premium package.
The base trim, FE comes with plenty of bells and whistles plus a suite of safety equipment that makes it a good buy. This trim includes air conditioning, cruise control, Sport and Comfort drive modes, automatic headlights, high beam assist, and 15-inch steel wheels.
The LXS features 16-inch alloy wheels, deluxe interior door trim, plus 60/40 rear seats. It also gives you access to the LXS Technology Package ($500) which includes blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, safe exit warning, and heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signals.
The GT Line trim gets a sportier appearance but no engine upgrade. It includes the contents of the LXS Technology package and adds alloy pedals, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and a flat-bottom, leather-wrapped steering wheel. Also included are rear center armrest, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and 10.25-inch infotainment screen.
The GT trim is at the top of the lineup and it gets a sporty look, plus the turbocharged engine and a choice of that 7-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual. The Kia Forte GT gets unique 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, dual sport-tuned exhaust tips, larger brakes, paddle shifters, rear A/C vent and USB port, plus wireless charging. The GT trim comes with an optional GT2 package that adds the contents of the Sport Premium package for the GT. You can also opt for a Technology Package which adds adaptive cruise control, cyclist detection, and an electronic parking brake.
All versions of the 2022 Kia Forte have a $995 destination charge.
